Caring for Your Canvas
A canvas asks for very little. A few habits keep it looking the way it did the day you hung it.
Day to day
- Dust lightly with a soft, dry cloth or a clean brush. No water, polish or cleaning sprays.
- Mind the sun. Strong direct sunlight, day after day, will soften colours over time. Choose a wall that is out of the harshest light.
- Keep it dry. Avoid walls that take on damp, and spots right beside a shower, a kitchen hob or an air-conditioner outlet.
- Handle by the frame or bars, never by pressing the face of the canvas.
Hanging
Every canvas has a sawtooth hanger already fixed. One screw or picture hook rated for the weight is enough; on plasterboard, use a suitable anchor. For height and spacing, see the size guide.
If you store it
Stand it upright, face protected, somewhere dry and away from heat. Do not stack heavy items against the canvas.
