Floater Frame
In a floater frame the canvas is fixed from behind and sits within the opening, not beneath a lip. A slim channel of shadow surrounds it, and the canvas appears to hang in the air. Nothing overlaps the image, and there is no glass in front.
| Moulding | Polystyrene, light to hang |
| Face | 10 mm |
| Shadow gap | 6–8 mm on all sides |
| Depth | 35 mm |
| Inside | Solid pine stretcher, 25 mm |
These measurements hold for every colour; the finish is purely a matter of tone.
Four finishes
Natural
Pale and quiet. It frames without announcing itself, which lets a richly coloured picture carry the wall.
Antique Gold
Gold with the shine taken down. Warm under evening light, it brings out ambers and rusts and gives the most formal effect of the four.
Walnut
A deep, settled brown. Comfortable beside wooden furniture without copying it, and it lends weight to a lighter image.
Matt Black
Flat black that swallows reflections. The most restrained choice: a crisp outline, then it disappears.
On the reverse
A sawtooth hanger is fixed before the canvas is boxed, so it goes up on a single screw or hook. The canvas is stapled taut behind the pine bars, which keeps the face flat and even.
